The discussions with Richard about paint began with the colour Orange. Clearly he LOVES orange. What began as a discussion around Giro empire shoes and the orange laces, quickly morphed into a proposal from us to use one of the most instantly recognizable oranges in motor racing, McLaren Racing Orange.

When you are building a timeless, custom creation, heritage is important. To not only respect and pay homage to it, but to build on and evolve it. McLaren adopted the now Iconic colour in 1968 in attempt to stand out from the pack. Stand out they did, winning several races that year. Although it did not remain in their livery largely due to sponsorship deals it has remained linked to the brand and is a firm favourite of their fans.

On this build we have used it sparingly, more as a highlight feature. Even so it is such a bold colour it instantly stands out from the crowd. Another neat little addition to this build is the Canadian maple leaf inlay; it creates a nice, subtle tribute to his homeland.
